A little history
Maple Valley was settled in 1879. Its early economy ran on coal mining, lumber mills, and the railroad. In the mid-1900s, Lake Wilderness was Gaffney's resort, with cabins, golf, and an airstrip. Lake Wilderness Lodge was built there in 1950 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. That same year, residents started Maple Valley Days to raise money for the area's first fire engine. Maple Valley became a city on August 31, 1997.
Population, history, and school details come from public sources, which may not be fully up to date, including Maple Valley, Washington (Wikipedia) and the Maple Valley Legacy Site. Drive times are estimates and vary with traffic. Always confirm the school district for a specific address.
